Barry S. Crane is Of Counsel to Becker’s Business Services Group, Bankruptcy Department, and Litigation Department where he largely works to provide strategic business and legal advice to the firm’s staffing, real estate, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, retail and wholesale warehousing and distribution, asset-management, and transportation clients related to mergers, acquisitions, sales, and other commercial transactions, as well as all manners of disputes in those practice areas across New York and New Jersey.
In March 2022, Mr. Crane was named by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers as one of its Rising Stars, a selection applying to attorneys in New Jersey 40 years old or younger and an honor reserved for only 2.5% of attorneys in New Jersey.
Prior to joining Becker as an Associate in May 2018, Mr. Crane worked at a general-practice law firm in Monmouth County, where he maintained a diverse caseload of litigation matters, and simultaneously, a heavy day-to-day transactional practice centric on real estate, liquor licensing, commercial transfers and acquisitions.
Mr. Crane co-manages Becker’s practices in the fields of commercial debt collection, foreign-judgment domestication, and landlord-tenancy.
Mr. Crane is also experienced in resolving Employer Shared Responsibility Payment disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and in litigating unemployment insurance payment disputes.
Mr. Crane also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Paul X. Escandon, Presiding Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court’s Special Civil Part in Monmouth County, where he assisted to adjudicate all special civil, small claims, and landlord-tenant claims filed in the County, and all motions practice therefor.
Prior to graduating cum laude from Touro Law Center, Mr. Crane was a member of the Honor’s Program, Moot Court Team, and Mock Trial Team and Unemployment Action Center. Mr. Crane is also a David Berg Fellow (2014) and Public Interest Law Fellow (2013), and is the recipient of the Award for Exemplary Contributions to the Quality of Student Life at Touro Law Center (2015).
Mr. Crane also served as a Law Assistant for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, and interned with the Office of the New York State Attorney General, United States Attorney’s Office, the County Attorney’s Office (Suffolk, NY), and the Chambers of the Honorable Mark D. Cohen, New York Supreme Court Justice.
